A visual portrait of lush land, wide open spaces, and clear blue
skies is what attracted the early settlers to the Sheyenne Valley
and Finley itself. Founded in 1897, many area families have ties
back to the days of Finley’s settlement. Located just 84 miles
northwest of Fargo and 66 miles southwest of Grand Forks, Finley
is far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city, yet
close enough to enjoy the conveniences that the cities have to offer.
But there’s more! Head east of Finley ten miles and you will
find the Golden Lake Resort which can meet many of your summer and
winter recreation needs. It sports many amenities such as camping
and picnicking facilities along with a wonderful home-style restaurant!
Get back to nature and watch some local wildlife just one mile
south of town at Lynch Lake or hone your archery skills at the Finley
Wildlife Club’s Archery Range. West of Finley, the Steele-Griggs
Avalanche Club has created a new motocross and short oval track
for racing enthusiasts and some summer racing fun!
We have prime hunting and fishing along with opportunities to investigate
unique shopping experiences in and around Finley.
